Effects of Ocean Healing Complex Program on the Risk Factors of Musculoskeletal Diseases in Middle and Older People

Abstract
|
|
|
Objective : The purpose of this study is to verify whether the ocean healing complex program has an effect on the improvement of the risk factors of musculoskeletal diseases when intensive application for a short period of time for 5 days.
Methods : The subjects of this study were selected from two local governments. The subjects of this study were selected from two local governments. 41 laboratories and 25 control groups were selected as subjects after receiving prior medical treatment at the health center. The five-day program focused on the composite program for six hours a day, nutrition, Exercise, climate, and relaxation therapy have been applied. Measurement items were knee and lumbar strength, walking speed, stride length, calories, heart rate, respiration rate, and core temperature. The data processing of this study was performed using SPSS/ver 21.0 to calculate the mean (M) and standard deviation (SD) for each measurement item. The test of difference between groups was analyzed by covariance analysis (ANCOVA) using the pretest value as a covariate because there was a difference in prior values between groups. The significance level was set to α=.05.
Results : The results were statistically significant in both knee extension strength(left <.001, right <.016), right knee flexion strength(<.000), lumbar extension strength(<.001), walking speed(<.000), calorie consumption(<.000), and core temperature(<.000). There were no statistically significant results in left knee flexion strength(<.090), stride length(<.461), heart rate(<.089), and respiratory rate(<.126).
Conclusion : This study showed that a short-term Ocean healing complex program applied for 5 days had a positive effect on improving the risk factors for musculoskeletal diseases.
